Clay Workshops

I provide the opportunity for people to investigate clay as a creative medium, learn about its special qualities and enjoy creating work through participation in a clay workshop.
The workshops are designed to allow people to have fun, relax and explore clay as a material in its various forms. I introduce traditional pottery techniques combined with contemporary ideas that harness personal narrative and sometimes use collaborative storytelling.
These are not brown pot workshops! they are designed to be exciting, stimulating and educational. These workshops can be linked to any theme or idea and can be easily tailored to suit your requirements.
The workshops are great for children and can easily be linked to most areas of the curriculum as supporting learning activities and are also suitable for ‘arts week’ activities.
The service I offer is very convenient for your group in that these workshops are mobile. I provide all the equipment, materials and tuition needed for each person to create a work of art of significance and permanence. I will take all work away and carefully dry it and bisque or glaze fire it, returning it to you within a couple of weeks.
I can cater for groups of up to 30 adults or children. Your group must provide a suitable venue with access to a sink and wipe-clean floors are preferable.
Holiday Workshops For Children
Come to my studio in Holt during the school holidays and participate in a imaginative clay workshop for a couple of hours. Based on various themes and designed to stretch the imagination, open up making possibilities and build on personal narratives. The children will come away with a fantastic piece of art and a story to tell.
Birthday Workshops
You can book a creative birthday workshop based on a theme of your choice. Workshops are usually 1.5 hours long and your group enjoy making something wonderful with a variety of simple techniques. I glaze fire the work and return it back to you within a couple of weeks. I can come to you or you can book my studio… Suitable for ages 3 upwards.
Raku Days
Participate in a two day workshop at my studio in Holt, Wiltshire involving a making day and a glazing and firing day. We will use a potrable gaz fired raku kiln to quickly fire pieces within half an hour. We will take the work out of the kiln with metal tongs at about 1000degrees, plunging it into sawdust and cooling it rapidly to create unique and unpredicted irridecent crackled glazes and smoked matt charcoal black areas reminiscent of ritual and antiquity…
Fun fiery and not for the fainthearted!
